More BatSys and Overworld Integration (09-2024 W1)


Did a lot this week! Things such as...


Overworld Movement

Before, the camera's rotation followed the player's a bit too closely when trying to pull off sideways movement. It doesn’t do that anymore, making things feel a lot nicer. To think it was as simple as changing just one setting… xD

Also before, you had to hold the correct input to sprint. Left Shift for PC, X for gamepad. Now you just press the input to toggle between it and regular running! Much more convenient imo. ^^


Overworld→Battle Transitions

This was tougher than expected. Ran into bugs such as the Pause Menu not showing up (in the overworld) due to its PlayerInput component getting overridden by the battle scene’s. Managed to fix them by the end without having to do too much sleuthing. 


Improving Battle Camerawork

Took yet another page out of Golden Sun's book: making the camera swish around a bit at the beginning of battle. Also changed the camera angles involved with selecting targets and focusing whose turn you’re setting up.

Now then…

Nid did a great job on the music here! ^_^ And overall, I’d say this was a very productive week.
